Anti-Social Behaviour
October 2005
This is summary of information that I have received from Portsmouth City Council’s Anti-Social Behaviour Unit:
Many incidents of antisocial behaviour will be a criminal offence. Please report all incidents to the Police as they will record and investigate all reports and take the most appropriate course of action available to them. The police also work in partnership with other agencies such as the Local Authority and Antisocial Behaviour Unit. This helps to ensure that all the powers that are available to tackle crime and antisocial behaviour are fully used.
Consider carefully what telephone number to use. If you or others are in danger or property is at risk, call 999. For all other non-threatening incidents or if you are reporting a crime that has already happened and no one is in danger then call 0845 045 4545.
In order to assist the Police, tell them that you want to report a crime stating the following:
· Who the offender or offenders are if you have a name or names
· A description – including number of offenders, male or female, approximate age, height, build, colour and length of hair, any distinguishing marks (e.g. scars and tattoos and where they are on the body), ethnicity and what they were wearing.
· Inform the police what the offenders/s are doing or has done.
· Date and time of crime
· Where the crime was committed
· How the offending behaviour is affecting you or others you may be reporting on behalf of
· Any other witnesses to this behaviour
