Special Report - Southsea Town Council

Extra Southsea Tax

Many local people living in its area have told me that they don't feel that is worth paying an extra council tax to Southsea Town Council. This is because the Conservative-run Council spends over 80% of its budget on running itself and bureaucracy.

That's why I have supported a referendum on the Town Council.

Of course the Conservatives have attacked me for arguing that local people should be able to have a say on whether they should pay this extra tax but I believe in standing up for local people.

And I don't understand why supporters of the Town Council seem to fear a referendum so much given that they think the Council is so wonderful.
