Global Aids Targets

I recently supported a parliamentary motion for interim targets towards the goal of universal access to anti-retroviral drugs for AIDS/HIV by 2010

It then became the UK government's position that we should have such targets.

I am pleased that the final text did incorporate the need for interim targets for 2008. I hope that this will put real pressure on governments in Africa to make practical and measurable progress in the run up to universal access in 2010. And as a result many more people will be able to benefit from access to anti-retroviral drugs.
