Chancellor Condems Labour's Economic Plans
08 March 2011
In an article from the Guardian this week the Chancellor, George Osborne, attacks Labour's economic plans as lacking reality and credibility.
The article makes three substantial points:
- That Labour is in denial of the structural deficit that existed prior to 2007. If they can't admit the errors of the past, how can they be trusted in the future?
- That Labour says it would keep to Alastair Darling's plan to halve the deficit within four years, but every day we see them oppose the spending cuts that this would require.
- That Labour is at odds with expert opinion, both at home and abroad, on the need for the UK to deal with its deficit and debt.
