MP Welcomes Funding To Improve Manners Lane And Nightingale Road

Mike Hancock, MP (Lib Dem – Portsmouth South) has welcomed news of funding for physical improvements to Manners Lane and Nightingale Avenue from the Home Office’s “Operation Gate It” programme. £10,000 has been awarded for physical improvements in these roads to help reduce anti-social behaviour in this area.

Mike said: “I am very pleased that this project is being funded by the Government. I have been pushing for improvements here and I welcome news of this grant which is good news for my constituents living around Manners Lane and Nightingale Avenue. I will continue to push for more funding of this kind as there are a number of areas in the city that could benefit from these sort of improvements. The City Council is working hard on these problems but we also need funding from Central Government to tackle this.”
