MP Takes fight for Gales Brewery “Save our pint” campaign to Parliament

13/12/2005

Mike Hancock, MP has taken the “Save our pint” campaign to keep Gales Brewery at Horndean to Parliament. This follows fears that it might move due to the take-over of Gales by Fullers and that might also affect the distinctive taste of its famous ales such as HSB which are made from the local water. Mike Hancock said: “This is important for the heritage of southern Hampshire and to keep jobs here. I’m backing this fight 100%.”

Notes: Mike Hancock’s EDM 1235 “GALES BREWERY, HORNDEAN” reads: That this House expresses its grave concern over the future of Gales brewery, in Hordean, following the takeover by Fullers, not only because of the local jobs which may be lost, but also the unique beer, characterised by famous ales such as HSB, which are made from local water; therefore gives full support to the Save Our Pint campaign, organised by Portsmouth Campaign for Real Ale, and The News; and wishes them every success.
